A song for Aiai

I’ve quite mixed feelings about this ANGERME’s “Namida Iro no Ketsui” music video and especially about song’s lyrics. And I guess I’m not the only one who’s being concerned.

This song clearly tells a story about Maho Aikawa and the rest of ANGERME. It’s some kind of message from the group to their absent member. Aiai was diagnosed with panic disorder last year and has been on temporary hiatus since the beginning of this year. I’ve not any idea how her treatment is going on and how she is recovering. I’ve not seen any messages from her since she went on hiatus.

This song is a ballad and has a melancholy overtone. You don’t need to guess what’s there hidden “between the lines” as the lyrics plainly tell us the heartrending feelings which other members of ANGERME are going through these days. They know the facts and they understand that Aiai can’t come back until she is well again. You can feel more or less sadness in the lyrics and in the composition.

Despite it’s melancholiness there is also hope written on some lines. The ending of this video makes my eyes teary. All other girls stand there hand in hand singing their message to Aiai: We love you. We are here waiting for you. Some day we laugh together again.

Girls standing there, not directly looking at the shooting camera but raising their heads and watching up to the sky. I just can’t keep my tears away while watching that ending scene.

As I love Aiai and ANGERME so much I hope & pray that in the future we will see ANGERME once again as a nine member group. Is that future near or more distant that we of course don’t know.

So what can I do? At least virtually I can join the chain of hands we see in the end of this video and keep waiting for Aiai’s comeback. Maybe you could join this chain too.
