I hate milk!

by Zush

This following dialog is a recent forum conversation between me ♂ and my friend Jam ♀. This whole exchange of words started just after Eri’s, Junjun’s and Linlin’s graduation announcement news and interestingly it went to quite a surprising direction.

zush:

…and when I just came back home THAT graduation news hit me like a lightning.

To be honest I’ve never cared so much about Eri. And Linlin was always there at the bottom of my rankings… but Junjun. This is worse than Koha’s graduation. Koha is still there but Junjun goes away. Guess who’s gonna cry when grad concert DVD and all that stuff comes out?

Jam:

I feel so complicated about this. I luff mah Eri, but really I’m happy she’s going since it’s good for her. I won’t exactly miss JunLin but I feel awful for their fans. No idol should be let go that early!

But then on the other hand. Thinking this the management-kind-of-way, it’s logical. I mean I liked the pandas too, they were like a good spice on a good food, but they weren’t that essential for MM as a product. I hope you know what I mean. All in all, I wish all 3 good luck.

But what I do NOT understand is how Tsunku thinks that it’s a good idea to add members. At least he better be doing a damn hard work on picking the girls. One more failure on that and MM is down. Since Koharu, there hasn’t been even one addition to whole H!P that made them more succesful. I’m not mocking any members, just thinking it the management’s way. I hope Tsunku picks them darn carefully or else it’s just more useless girls that won’t give Morning Musume anything spicy and new. What they need is shiny personalities, not just another.. Aika

zush:

Heh he, yeah, Aika… what a shiny wonderful star Actually when I’m talkin about the girls of MM I’m talkin about my personal tastes on girls Koha for example was always more or less outsider in MM but something on her got me wild as you know. Konkon then… She either hadn’t a star quality but I like(d) her personality so very much as is the case also with Junjun. Ai-chan is too clean for me and I think you know what I mean.

We almost forgot what graduation is because MM was so long in that status quo. No shock for me, This is so normal move from Tsunku. But what kind of new girls he is seeking now? 12-15 years olds? Feels quite strange combination if next version of MM has very young and then these over 20 girls. Again… it would be interesting to know what’s going on in Tsunkuboy’s head. And is the solution for getting back the lost popularity in new girls or does it need something else/more? New style of music? New strategy in business? Tsunkuboy, what you’re chasing after?

Jam:

I know what you mean. I really like most of the members (all the time) and most of all the not-so-shiny ones, but it’s only true that there’s no room for them right now. We need at least one more Sayu, one more Ai and then maybe one Konkon to spice it up.

I’m not that shaken up either. I haven’t seen that many graduations, TsujiKago was my first one, but I’m used to it. And, it’s business.

It would be amazing if they started to show the girls personalities on singles too, like on “Souda! We’re Alive” kind of a things. That was one an epic PV. These days I find it pretty much so that all the girls are dressed in similiar ways and styled to look pretty much the same. It’d rock so hard if they gave each one a completely different outfit, hairstyle and lines to bring out their personalities.

zush:

Now you are getting to the point. Recent MM style/image has really been: Girls from the same “cake mould” and that makes the outcome a bit boring. Hmm, take “bit” out from that sentence. In the past there was much more diversity amongst girls. At least I see it this way. As we look back for example the period when Aibon & Nono were still there the whole group was way much more interesting than today.

When these three girls who has more edge in their characters… (hah ha, Eri is something else, I’ve never denied it and some goes with Junjun) …are leaving soon, MM really needs new girls which don’t come from that mould. Now when I’ve been thinkig about this age gap thing I’ve changed my mind. I mean maybe it could be refreshing to bring young girls in to MM. Young, not yet so polished girls who still have lot of fresh passion & characteristic roughness. It’s always interesting and fun to watch how girls grow up. The charm of Berryz Kobo for example has always been wathing those girls growing up.

Jam:

I really wouldn’t care for three 19 year olds who will just make the group more mature, not that it’s not mature enough already. I want that cute young sillyness again into Morning Musume!

zush:

Maybe this “cute young sillyness” is also the ultimate reason why I’ve been following S/mileage lately.

Jam:

Same here. Four lovely fools Saki’s insane laugh, Kanon’s stupid faces and jokes, Yuuka being slow and Dawa being so cutely awrkward that it hurts.

zush:

Yeah. That kind of sillyness is so heartwarming & fun to watch. Risako has it still. Of course Momo and sometimes also Chinami. Airi sure has it. But I’m afraid that Miya is loosing it fast now when she’s soon 18. She is getting herself more and more into that “Cool Lady Style”. And in Morning Musume I think Sayu will keep her sillyness no matter how old she is. But are there any other really positively silly girls in MM today besides Sayu?

Jam:

Partly the reason I love Socko so much is her own special Rii-Sillyness. So sweet. And that’s Airi’s charm also. But as for Miya, really, I don’t even miss her childlike jokes and silly nasal voice and stuff. I feel like she suits this sekushii thing a lot better. She seems to be more comfortable on stage too. And well simply put I just love Miyabi’s personality, how she’s so calm and “boring” at times. I like it a lot indeed.

zush:

Boring Miya is as cool as hot ice! When she is bored and looks at other girls she has this “Oh my god how those gals can be so fuckin stupid” facial expression. At those moments she looks so incredulous and almost surprised. Hah, it happens all the time when she is with Momo & Airi.

I’ve been wondering how much this sillyness could be a conscious behavior. I mean, when I watch for example Sayu being silly, I can’t believe she could be that much “stupid” she is acting. I just can’t imagine sweet Sayu being silly in her private life when she is off from her idol spotlight. There must be some kind of agreement between her and Up-Front Agency about her idol character & image. Kids and younger teens are naturally silly (hah ha, don’t take this too seriously) but when you grow up your behavior changes and you are more self-conscious and start thinking what you are going to say and do.

Jam:

I know what you mean. And (well as I recall it) Kago mentioned somewhere that idols actually do have certain images/roles that they have to stick with. I don’t know if it goes for all of them, but I’d imagine at least the most popular and typical characteric (I mean that they really have a certain image that they are known for) ones do have that in their contracts even. Momoko with her ridiculously cute anime character, Sayumi being narsistic and Mai-the-awfully-exhausting-yet-lovely-brat at least really come to my mind quickly.

You called me silly? Oh I’ll get you, I’ll get you for that one. No wait it’s completely true.

zush:

I guess the truth is that there is a little silly stupido living in every human being. No, it wasn’t my original phrase at all. Yes, I hate milk! I drink it only in cafe latte.

Jam:

Yes, I hate milk too! Only with coffee it’s fine! DOWN MILK, DOWN!

S/mileage by fans

by Zush

As all you Berryz Kobo International blog readers know every now and then I’ve been posting there drawings and such from various, mostly anonymous, fan artists. Now as S/mileage has finally released their first official major record and is increasing rapidly their fan base it’s time to take a look also at the works of S/mileage fan artists.

What is your favorite out of these 14 pictures?

I think these first four pictures are all from the same artist. The stye is just so similar in these pictures. Love the clean manga style.

Then here we have another four drawings set done with the same kind of style.

Next three pictures each are from different S/mileage fans. At least I guess so. First one might have Kanon in it.

Last set of three is once again obviously from the one and only artist. I must say that I love this kind of watercolour style. Sweet and dreamy. Ayaka, Kanon and Yuuka.

JKLM? MBK? BMK?

by Zush

This is a bit surprising but also super cool news. It was just announced on Chinese TV show “Music Story in Japan” that JunJun, LinLin, Miyabi & Koharu are the new Hello! Project special unit. This quartet is raised especially for the Shanghai World Expo concerts taking place in Shanghai on June 22 and 23.

In this clip from the show JunJun and LinLin decided first to take Miya in the group and after that they all ended up asking also Koha to join with them. This special unit does not have name yet but JunJun already suggested that it could be MBK. Why not JKLM? Or SCC as Suppa Cool Chicks?

Anyways, there is already up  a web page @ Music Story’s site where you can request a name for this special unit.

The next question is of course: What songs this quartet is going to sing in those upcoming concerts? And then: Is this unit only for these concerts or is it gonna live longer? I’m pretty hopeful that Up-Front International is gonna have those concerts recorded and later published on DVD.

And hey, great to have Koha back live on stage!

Coming soon: Morning Musume live in Paris

by Zush

Now this is what I call SUPER COOL NEWS! Makes me feel again so unreal but it’s not a dream either this time. Let’s see what Morning Musume girls have to say to us.

http://www.dailymotion.com/videoxd6yzh

Yes, Morning Musume is coming to Paris as 11th Japan Expo’s Guests of Honor in the beginning of next July. So for the first time on the European soil Morning Musume is giving a concert on Friday 2nd of July at the Parc d’Expositions in Paris-Nord Villepinte.

I don’t have ticket to this historical event yet but you can start guessing am I going to get an access to that show one way or another. Because, after all, Morning Musume is one of those few Japanese groups which drove me into a complete new musical world in the end of 90′s. And the rest is, should I say, history. As is Morning Musume’s first trip to Europe.

That brown eyed girl

by Zush

Today just before noon I got my Sugar Doll. I had pre-ordered it but somehow it took many long days before HMV Japan got it in stock. But now it’s here in my hands. I carefully opened the parcel, peeled the book out of plastic wrapper and made my first browsing from cover to cover. I could use so many adjectives describing this PB and Koha but I think the most to-the-point going might be “STUNNING”. I guess she could use this PB as part of her portfolio when (or if?) she goes to the fashion business.

To be honest, cover of this PB should have had another photo than this bland one.

Almost like young Aya Matsuura isn’t she.

Love this photo. White clovers. Summer. Koha. What else you need?

As Koha makes serious face her attraction level goes up. Don’t even try to tweak!

You boy! Know what happens to naughty sods!?

Perfect face.

Girlie Koha. Good model is versatile. I think Koha sure has that quality in her posings.

Another pretty side of Koha. ;)

She is looking at you, kid.

Purrfect! Playboy stuff.

Calm young women

by Zush

Maria Sharapova made her return to the highest level of womens pro tennis last weekend by winning Jelena Jankovic in Toray Pan Pacific Open tournament in Tokyo. Although Maria’s victory in this final was a walkover because Jelena had to retire due to a right wrist injury it does not take away the fact that Maria is finally getting herself fit again. She was forced to stay away from tennis courts about nine months because of her right shoulder injury last year. This was her first victory after she returned to Sony Ericsson WTA Tour in August 2009.

But why on earth I’m talking about Maria Sharapova here? Simply  because she is one of my idols. Because I adore her. And also because I’m now also talking about Maimi Yajima. You don’t need to believe me but the truth is I see many similarities between Maria and Maimi. Heh he, right, their names begin with the same letter but there is much more in common with these ladies than that.

If you take a look at them you sure can agree with me that they both are grand and stunning young women. Not anymore giggling little girls but cool and calm beauties. They hold their heads proudly up and when they look at you it’s not exceptional that you get mesmerized, you lose your ability to talk and in “worst” case you faint because your heart gets overdose of strange enjoyable feelings.

Maimi and Maria are both so-called classic beauties. There is not too much (or too little) anywhere in their character and looks. They don’t stress anything in a tacky ways. I would like to say they are both natural and have high self-esteem and self-confidence. In other words: They are strong.

I adore / lover / worship strong and independent women.

As there has lately been a trend with these graduating H!P members to go to the model career one thing I want to say is that in my eyes Maimi is the only real serious model in the whole H!P Dynasty. Risako is coming close but she’s still so young. Koha is talented of course but what to say about soon graduating Erika from C-ute? Better not to say anything. Period.

Dream Team a.k.a. H!P Girls Top 10

by Zush

It’s been a while when I last time made my Hello! Project Girls Top Ten list. As you can see my top three seems to be sitting permanently on their places but there is one great surprise, a newcomer who has never before been on my list.

Then I’ve a request to Up-Front International: I certainly would like to see new photo books from Miya and JunJun. Miya’s debut PB was released over two years ago so it’s time to have a new one. And JunJun has not had even her first PB yet. And when you are then shooting all new photo books please use your imagination and creativity. Mizugi shots are fine but there is also plenty of other ways  making girls adorable.

1. MIYABI NATSUYAKI
So what should I do? Should I learn to speak Japanese? Should I then try to get job from Up-Front International? After that should I break all the written and unwritten rules and pick up Miya? Should we have international marriage? A couple of kids? Living happily ever after? Dream on zush, dream on.

2. RISAKO SUGAYA
First I though it’s too risky to love Rii. Now I think it’s too risky not to love. And you know, I’ve never had mixed feelings on her.

3. REINA TANAKA
I can easily imagine Reina ringing my doorbell, coming in and waving two tickets to VAMPS this evening gig. Sugoi! I kiss her and then we go.

4. CHINAMI TOKUNAGA
Chii is a mystery to me. I gladly would like to solve that mystery. What is going on in her head when she has that famous blank face expression? What kind of girl she is when in romantic mood? Questions. So many questions.

5. KOHARU KUSUMI
What’s the fuss with Koha’s graduation? If you have read this blog you know that she is not just-another-girl for me. Maybe I should start making non H!P girls top 10 after Koha’s graduation. Still waiting for my copy of Sugar Doll to arrive from HMV Japan.

6. MAIMI YAJIMA
Earlier I’ve had some problems with Maimi. She was kind of reticent. Still I wonder why was that so. Maybe I just thought that she is too cool. Too perfect. Too dominant? Today I adore her. If she wants to dominate, that’s fine for me. Please!

7. MAI HAGIWARA
What? Now we are making history. Maimai, the youngest of C-uties, is making her all time first entry to my Top 10 list. I guess this was inevitable. Years go by and girls are growing up fast. And remember that Maimai’s debut photo book is soon out. Hands up who has pre-ordered it!

8. MOMOKO TSUGUNAGA
Is Momo dropping down? She sure is as sweet as always. I guess from time to time I just get tired of hyper Momo. Too much helium is not good for my health. But things are not too bad because Momo is still on my list. The big question is: What kind of boyfriend could tolerate Momo’s hyperness? Should he be calm as ice or same kind of helium filled person as Momo herself is?

9. CHUN LI
There is something about JunJun. Although she is not the best dancer in Morning Musume. Although she does not have best looks. Although she has “strange” sense of humor. Although she is not petite. Although all of those and some other things… I desire her. I have a sense that we could have great time together.

10. YURINA KUMAI
Talk to me Kumai-chan. Your sweet voice is like a gentle fall evening as sun has just gone below the horizon and the sky looks so stunning with glowing purple, orange and blue.
